The life-changing benefits of affordable homeownership are immense: improved school performance, improved financial outcomes, and enhanced health and well-being of children and adults – just to name a few. But due to systemic barriers, like the pay gap and its impact on credit access and uneven childcare responsibilities that limit time and financial resources, it is far more difficult for women to become homeowners. It's even harder for Black women.
The team members of Raise the Roof aren't okay with this and we are doing something about it. This October, we’re linking arms, picking up our tools, and joining in Habitat for Humanity Chicago's Women Build to knock these barriers down. Alongside hundreds of other determined women, we will first raise $750,000 to help fund Habitat Chicago homes that will be purchased by women with affordable mortgages! Then we will get busy at the Habitat Chicago construction sites to build the homes.
Help us reach our financial goal so we can help women unlock the benefits that homeownership provides. Help us prove that there is nothing a determined group of women can’t achieve when they work together.
Every donation - big, small, or somewhere in between - helps to build a strong, stable, and equitable future.
