Most know about Habitat for Humanity but may not be familiar with this specific part of organization – Women Build is quite inspiring!
The life-changing benefits of affordable homeownership are immense: it improves school performance, improves financial outcomes, and enhances the health and well-being of children and adults – just to name a few. But due to gendered barriers like the pay gap and its impact on credit access, and uneven childcare responsibilities that limit time and financial resources, it is far more difficult for a woman to own a home than a similarly situated man.
H4H Women Build Chicago: For the month of October 2024, the Greater Grand Crossing jobsite is comprised completely of women, helping build homes for some very hard-working local women. We've had the opportunity to meet a few of the future homeowners and they are amazing, hardworking single mothers that are doing everything in their power to give their families everything they need. This program is helping change the lives of these women and their families dramatically.
Our incredible team of women from Henricksen are joining the cause. Alongside 780 determined women, we will raise $750,000 to completely fund and begin building the homes of a low-income, women-led family and celebrate all the women purchasing affordable homes with Habitat for Humanity Chicago.
