Ever wondered how the people living on streets, highways, transit stations and trains get in touch with their loved ones and vice versa? Ever tried looking at yourself from their perspective? Ever thought about how a little act of kindness can change their entire day or days even?

As a little kid while traveling from city to city I would look outside the window and see people living on highways in their temporary shelters, primarily made from all the scrape materials and jute. Would see children wondering outside on the roads in the heat/rain/cold with no proper protection. The above mentioned questions always popped up in my childish mind and would instantly try to find answers as to how I can help them? How can we as capable human beings help those who aren’t and maintain balance? Give them a sense of identity? I have always felt that having a home is not just about being in a shelter but it also defines who we are.

This idea sparked in me to choose the field that I am in now. Volunteering with and donating to Habitat for Humanity’s cause for housing rights internationally, gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction. I believe this is just my starting point into giving back to the society and there’s still a long road ahead.

I have made my donation, but it would be even better if you all could help me beat the set goal and make your donations. The money goes into getting all the resources required to build new houses for the community and people in need. Remember, even the smallest donations means a lot!
