Habitat for Humanity has a special place in my heart. In 2016, my husband left his job in consulting to do an Americorps year of service as a crew leader at the Habitat jobsite. That year changed our lives. We both learned new skills and adjusted our lifestyles to prioritize this work, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
In Chicago, like in most cities, demand for affordable housing is high and supply is low. Habitat is building safe and decent homes for families and supporting stronger neighborhoods, one family at a time.
With one in ten Chicagoans currently living in inadequate housing, the time to act is now! I'm making a difference by helping to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Chicago, a nonprofit committed to building a city where every resident lives in a healthy home in a stable community.
