In 2020, more than ever, we've learned the value of safe and healthy housing - a place to take shelter in.

Indeed, homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future. But it's a tool that far too many women are unjustly denied access. And minority women have an even more difficult path to homeownership.

The many hurdles keeping women from homeownership include:
+ The gender pay gap & its impact on credit profiles
+ Uneven child care responsibilities that consume time & financial resources
+ Higher rates of mortgage denials DESPITE superior payment performance

So let's do something about it!

This October, I'm grabbing my hammer, strapping on my tool belt, and joining Habitat Chicago's Women Build alongside 450 determined women to knock these barriers down. Together, we will help our fellow women become homeowners with Habitat Chicago, a nonprofit committed to building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

I'm a longtime supporter of and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, domestically and internationally. But this is my first Women Build and I'm really excited about it!
