Hi Everyone! Thank you for visiting my page in support of Women Build!
To give you some insight on what Women Build does, Women Build seeks to bring folks together to help women home buyers overcome the gendered barriers to home-ownership. As a community of 450+ people strong, we will accomplish two incredible feats:
> Raise $300,000 to make home-ownership a reality for women purchasing affordable homes with Habitat Chicago.
> Advance construction of these homes, building right alongside the future homeowners every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from October 3rd - 24th, 2020.
Home-ownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future. However, it is a tool that far too many women are denied access. From the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles, to uneven child care responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, to higher rates of mortgage denials despite superior payment performance, the hurdles keeping women from home-ownership are high.
That being said, this October, I'm grabbing my hammer, strapping on my tool belt, and joining Habitat Chicago's Women Build alongside 450 determined folks to knock these barriers down. Together, we will help our fellow women become homeowners with Habitat Chicago, a nonprofit committed to building a world where everyone has a place to call home.
You can make a difference by helping me reach my fundraising goal, so that we can change the lives of these women forever. All donations go directly to home construction for Women-led households, covering things like cement work, lumber, insulation, finishes, landscaping, tools, and other construction costs.
Change happens one person at a time. I appreciate any support you can give - big, small, or somewhere in between.
