Become a Winter Warrior
 

During the winter months, when temps in Chicago average in the low 20s, heating expenses can become a serious challenge for low-income families and far too many are forced to make detrimental trade-offs. Money that could be spent on healthy food, saved up to start a business or invested in a child's education instead has to be used to cover the cost of heating. 
 

January 1st - March 31st, our Habitat Chicago Winter Warriors will come together to ensure a Habitat homebuyer will never have to make these sacrifices again by accomplishing two things: 

1. Raising $20,000 to cover the cost of insulation, siding and a new HVAC heating system for a family's home. 

2. Keeping the Habitat Chicago build site roaring strong by volunteering as much as they can during the winter months. 

Here's how it works: 

Habitat Chicago has tasked our construction Site Supervisors, Pete and Noe, with leading our Winter Warriors to building and fundraising glory. And because all work and no play makes Habitat a dull organization, they've made a competition of it. 

Pete thinks his team can raise $10,000 for a new HVAC system way before team Noe can bring in $10,000 for siding and insulation. What's at stake? The losing site supervisor will have to wear a custom-made shirt featuring a large picture of the winner's face on the build site... for the ENTIRE month of April. 


Join the action: 

Step 1: Check out Team Pete and Team Noe and decide which is right for you. 

Step 2: Create your personal fundraising page by clicking the register button at the top of the team page you want to join. Once you register, you'll receive a confirmation email with a fundraising guide that has everything you'll need to know. We're challenging each Winter Warrior to set a personal goal of at least $150. 

Step 3: Head to the Habitat Chicago volunteer calendar and register for as many volunteer days as you can. We build Fridays and Saturdays from 8am-3pm in West Pullman. Hint: Spots fill quickly so hurry on over (you gotta register online in advance as our site has a limited capacity for safety and productivity!)
