On October 11, Studio Gang will participate in Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s 2019 WOMEN BUILD, a weeklong event that helps a woman-led family build strength, stability, and independence through affordable housing.

Homeownership is a crucial pathway to building a strong and stable future, yet far too many women are unjustly denied access. From the gender pay gap, to uneven child care responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, to higher rates of mortgage denials, the barriers keeping women from homeownership are massive.

By raising the funds needed to construct a home, and coming together to physically build it, our Women Builders are helping unlock the possibilities of homeownership for their fellow women. When a woman purchases a home with Habitat for Humanity Chicago, she doesn't just build a house. She builds a better future for herself and her family.

I'm grabbing my hammer, strapping on my tool belt, and joining Habitat Chicago's Women Build alongside 400 other powerhouse women to knock these barriers down. Together, we will help our fellow women become homeowners with Habitat Chicago, a nonprofit committed to building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
