I'm excited to lead Team Wolfpack for Women Build 2018! During five days this October, 300 women will come together to build a house, which we will have funded in the previous months through the help of the generous donations of our friends, family and colleagues.

The house we build will be sold through Habitat's no interest mortgage program to a woman who has applied through the program and has worked along side volunteers to help build her home and that of others in the neighborhood.

Homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future, but it is a tool that is denied to far too many women. From the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles, to uneven child care responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, to higher rates of mortgage denials, the barriers keeping women from homeownership are massive.

But I'm doing something about it. I'm grabbing my hammer, strapping on my tool belt, and joining in Habitat Chicago's Women Build alongside 300 other powerhouse women to knock these barriers down.

Together, we will completely fund and begin building the home of a woman-led family AND celebrate all of the women purchasing affordable homes with Habitat for Humanity Chicago.
