Chicago Star
Visit West Pullman

This year's Women Build will be taking place in the Far South Side neighborhood of West Pullman. Learn about the many assets this neighborhood offers:

Kroc Center Chicago  - opened in 2012, this 160,000 sq. ft. facility provides more recreational, educational, arts, and social service programs than any single facility in the state of Illinois. From an indoor water park to a church/worship center, the Kroc Center has something for everyone.

Engine Co. 115 Firehouse
- open in 2021, this firehouse is the largest in the city of Chicago. Being close to two major highways, it provides even more coverage of the South Side.

Major Taylor Trail - named after an accomplished Black cyclist and bike advocate, Marshall "Major" Taylor, this bike trail goes through the neighborhood and connects Dan Ryan Woods to Whistler Woods in about 8 miles. In current news, organizers are trying to push for Taylor to receive a posthumous Congressional Medal for his work.

African American Heritage Water Trail - this trail highlights 180 years of Black American history through sites along the Little Calumet River. The trail runs past West Pullman as it covers sites, including a stop along the Underground Railroad.
