For the past 7 years, I have been deeply committed to serving as a Women Builder for Habitat Chicago's mission to provide affordable housing for single black women and the revitalization of the communities in which I live and serve. During this time, I have dedicated myself to this cause, spending 2 years on the committee and 4 years as a team lead.
Homeownership is a powerful tool that can pave the way for a strong and stable future, yet it remains out of reach for far too many women due to various unjust barriers. These obstacles, such as the gender pay gap, challenges in building credit profiles, unequal childcare responsibilities, and higher rates of mortgage denials, have kept women from realizing their dreams of homeownership.
In October, I will once again pick up my hammer, don my tool belt, and join forces with 600 determined women through Habitat Chicago's Women Build initiative. Together, we are determined to dismantle these barriers and help our fellow women achieve homeownership. Habitat Chicago, as a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to investing in resident priorities, constructing quality homes, and promoting homeownership to create healthier communities.
I invite you to join me in making a difference by contributing to my fundraising goal. Together, we can demonstrate that a group of committed women can overcome any challenge. Change begins with each individual, and I am grateful for any support you can offer, whether it's a generous contribution, a modest donation, or anything in between. Your support will make a meaningful impact on the lives of single black women striving for homeownership and a brighter future.
