You probably know I love to help people. I especially love finding ways to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. I can’t think of a more impactful way than literally building someone’s home. I’m so excited to be a part of this!!
Homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future. Women face more challenges when it comes to homeownership. From the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles, to uneven childcare responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, to higher rates of mortgage denials despite superior payment performance, the hurdles keeping women from homeownership are high.
This October, I'm grabbing my hammer, strapping on my tool belt, and joining Habitat Chicago's Women Build alongside 600 determined women to knock these barriers down. Together, we will help our fellow women become homeowners with Habitat Chicago, a nonprofit committed to championing healthy neighborhoods by investing in resident priorities, building quality homes, and supporting homeownership.
I hope you understand why I’m so excited about this! I would deeply appreciate any and all support - from an email with words of encouragement, prayers for good weather on build day, and even helping me reach my fundraising goal with any donation (big, small, or somewhere in between). All of these will help me help a woman have her home.
