Hi! My name is Jeny and I want to thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Habitat for Humanity.

Consider the following word, “home”.

When you think of your home, what are the first words that come to mind? A place where you feel comfort and safety? A place where you experience family, warmth, food, and love? Maybe it’s your place of peace and sleep. Or maybe it’s the place where you get to work if you’re remote.

For many, a home is taken for granted. And for others, having their own home is a luxury that remains out of reach.

Homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future.

Yet, many women pursuing homeownership, especially single women are held back by income disparities that impact credit profiles. Or childcare and eldercare responsibilities that consume time and financial resources. As a result, women experience higher rates of mortgage denials despite statistically superior payment performance. The hurdles keeping women from homeownership are high.

For first generation homeowners, they also face additional challenges when buying their first home including building credit for mortgage pre-approval. Purchasing their home is the first step in changing not only the trajectory of their own lives but also the lives of their families for the future.

I serve on Habitat for Humanity, Women Build leadership committee and this October, I'm joining volunteers to knock these barriers down. We’re bringing our tools together to build homes and help our fellow women become homeowners with Habitat Chicago, a nonprofit committed to championing healthy neighborhoods.

If you were raised by a single mom, or if you know a single mom in your life, then you know firsthand how strong they have to be to go through the challenges they endure. Women Build is committed to helping women including single mothers achieve homeownership. Building equity in a home helps improve the homeowner’s financial stability and builds wealth for the next generation. Homeownership also leads to improved school performance for children.

I would love your help to reach my fundraising goal for equitable housing. With your gift, you're helping change the life of a woman and her family forever. You're giving her a home where she feels comfort, a place where she finds peace, and a haven for her family where they experience hope. A home where they belong.

Change happens one person at a time. I’m grateful for any support you can contribute (big or small- it all adds up). Together, we can make an impact on our community! :)

Thanks!

Jeny
