I'm excited to share that I'll be volunteering with Canopy / Architecture + Design, LLC for Chicago Women Build this year to help build an affordable, quality home for a family in need and provide women homebuyers the security, stability, and equality that comes from safe and affordable homeownership. Join me and 620 other inspiring women from across Chicago by supporting our fundraising effort for @habitatchicago’s 11th annual #CHIWomenBuild
This year we'll be in #WestPullman! So close to my old hood of Morgan Park and a stone's throw from where I live now in Woodlawn on the #SouthSide of #Chicago!
The goal for individuals is $500 but I'd LOVE to raise $1000 this year since I haven't done any fundraising in a while. As most of you know I was raised for most of my young adult years by my #Singlemom Teresa, and having access to a home for us three kids after the divorce was crucial to us living a normal and stable life from there on. And I'm proud today to be a single female homeowner as well. But I know the access and opportunity is not the same for women households of color.
So let's DO BETTER! And help out the future women homeowners in Chi-Town!
Will you donate any amount that would be so tremendous towards a great cause!
Thank you in advance!
Homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future. However, it is a tool that far too many women are unjustly denied access. From the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles, to uneven childcare responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, to higher rates of mortgage denials despite superior payment performance, the hurdles keeping women from homeownership are high.
This October, I'm grabbing my hammer, strapping on my tool belt, and joining Habitat Chicago's Women Build alongside 600 determined women to knock these barriers down. Together, we will help our fellow women become homeowners with Habitat Chicago, a nonprofit committed to championing healthy neighborhoods by investing in resident priorities, building quality homes, and supporting homeownership.
You can make a difference by helping me reach my fundraising goal and prove that there's nothing a group of committed women can't do.
Change happens one person at a time. I appreciate any support you can give - big, small, or somewhere in between.
