Access to affordable homeownership changes lives! The benefits are immense: it can improve school performance, improve financial outcomes, and enhance overall health and well-being. But due to gendered systemic barriers, it is more difficult for women to become homeowners. It's even harder for Black women. This isn't our opinion, it's statistical fact.
The women on our team want to do something to improve the odds in our city! We’re joining Habitat for Humanity Chicago's Women Build. Alongside 600+ determined women, we are committed to raising $575,000 toward the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes that will be purchased by women being given affordable mortgages! Then, on October 21 we're headed to the Habitat construction sites to help these same women build their future homes.
We're asking YOU to help us reach our financial goal. The funds raised through Habitat help these women unlock the benefits that homeownership provides, not just for themselves, but for their children and dependents, building generational wealth. For most, the Habitat home they are purchasing is the first stable home their families have had. This work is so important, it is life changing.
