March 17, 2022 was the day I became a woman homeowner. The keys I walked away with were hard fought and expensive! They were the product of saving and sacrifice and a whole lot of support and encouragement from friends and family.
Homeownership is not only a powerful wealth-generating tool, but it also improves health, educational, and social outcomes for homeowners and their households. Unfortunately, women face disproportionate barriers to homeownership access due to lower incomes, uneven care responsibilities, and mortgage denials and rates.
For the second year, I am joining Team Kelso on Friday, October 13th for Habitat Chicago’s 11th Annual #CHIWomenBuild. Together with 9 of my strong, smart, and hardworking coworkers and industry peers, we will advance construction on a woman-owned home during a day full of fun, power tools, and camaraderie. Your donation will go to home construction for women-led households, covering things like cement work, lumber, insulation, finishes, landscaping, and tools. Join me in breaking down the gendered barriers to homeownership by donating to this great cause.
