For the third year in a row, this October, I'm grabbing my hard hat, tool belt, and work gloves and joining Habitat Chicago's Women Build alongside hundreds of determined women to knock down the barriers to home ownership for women. Habitat Chicago is a nonprofit committed to championing healthy neighborhoods by investing in resident priorities, building quality homes, and supporting homeownership.
In past years, I’ve helped put the roof on a garage, measured and cut siding, hauled sheets of materials, and more! I’ve even met women who would live in the houses we built! One woman (who was also there to help build her home) would be a first time homeowner at 72 years old. She dreamed of having her whole family over for dinner and we helped make it happen…after we dried our eyes from hearing her story!
Habitat Chicago’s Women Build has opened my eyes, taught me new skills, and given me an incredible opportunity to make a difference.
You can make a difference by helping me reach my fundraising goal and prove that there's nothing a group of committed women can't do.
Change happens one person at a time. I appreciate any support you can give - big, small, or somewhere in between and even good wishes and prayers for good weather on our build day are most welcome and appreciated.
