Homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future. However, it is a tool that far too many women are unjustly denied access. From the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles, to uneven childcare responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, to higher rates of mortgage denials despite superior payment performance, the hurdles keeping women from homeownership are high. 
 
This October, I'm joining my fourth Habitat for Humanity Chicago Women Build. This is my second year as a team leader, and I'm ready to grab my hammer, strap on a tool belt, and get to work alongside 550 determined women to help knock these barriers down. Together, we will help our fellow women become homeowners with Habitat Chicago, a nonprofit committed to building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our team has a goal of raising $8,000 and personally, I've set my own goal of $2,000 (higher each year, as you do!). A little bit goes a long way in helping to change the lives of these women.
