Our annual Thanks + Giving campaign helps us connect to our values as a company, to our inclusive culture, and to our local communities. Smithbucklin is delighted to support the efforts of Habitat for Humanity Chicago's Women Build. From Nov. 14 through Nov. 29 all employee donations will be matched up to $250. Thank you for making the world of difference to communities in need.
The life-changing benefits of affordable homeownership are immense: it can improve school performance, decrease crime, improve financial outcomes, and enhance the health and well-being of children and adults – just to name a few. But due to gendered systemic barriers, like the pay gap and its impact on credit access and uneven childcare responsibilities that limit time and financial resources, it is far more difficult for women to become homeowners.
Smithbucklin isn't okay with this and we're doing something about it. We're joining in Habitat for Humanity Chicago's Women Build to knock these barriers down. Alongside thousands of other individuals, we will help build Habitat for Humanity homes that will be purchased by women with affordable mortgages!
Help us reach our goal so we can help these women unlock the benefits that homeownership provides and prove that there is nothing a committed group of citizens can’t achieve when they come together.
Here's what your donation can do: $10: Purchases a box of nails, serving as a small yet crucial component of a Habitat home's structural integrity. $25: Provides one smoke alarm to help keep Habitat households safe within their homes. $50: Decorates and provides appreciation items to make our first-time Habitat homeowners feel celebrated at their home closing. $100: Supplies a month of personal gear for our construction team and homebuyers, enabling them to build with safety and pride. $250: Paints the walls of a newly built house for a hardworking family excited for a fresh start in their Habitat home. $500: Acquires the electrical fixtures to light an entire Habitat house!
