During the 3 week long effort in October 2021, the Chicago West Pullman Habitat for Humanity jobsite will be comprised completely of women, helping build homes for deserving women.
#NailedIt is a group of 10 women in Chicago commercial real estate who professionally design, engineer, manage, build and furnish construction projects. We join 500 other dedicated other ladies to raise $375,000 towards the build and Habitat new-homeowner programs during this event.
The life-changing benefits of affordable home-ownership are immense: it improves school performance, decreases crime, improves financial outcomes, and enhances the health and well-being of children and adults β just to name a few. But due to gendered barriers such as pay gap and its impact on credit access, and uneven childcare responsibilities that limit time and financial resources, it is far more difficult for a woman (particularly women of color) to obtain a mortgage than a similarly situated man. Additionally, negative impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic continue to be disproportionately concentrated among women and marginalized communities.
We understand the financial hardships facing many in the current economic climate. Any donation - big, small, or somewhere in between - helps to build a strong, stable, equal future and will be truly appreciated!
