Women Build is one of my most favorite events I do every year. This year will be my 7th year as team leader of Ladies of the House. What I love about it is that I am helping to empower underprivileged women to secure the opportunity to own a home. Homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future. However, it is a tool that far too many women are unjustly denied access. From the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles, to uneven childcare responsibilities that consume time and financial resources, the hurdles keeping women from homeownership are high. 
 
With my team, and alongside hundreds of other women, I will take part in building a home, from framing a house, to installing siding. Once this home is built, a deserving woman who has participated in the build will take ownership and start her next chapter. It never gets old witnessing the hard work that these women have done to make a better life with a new home.
