Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues,

Homeownership is one of the most dynamic tools a person can use to build a strong and stable future.

However, women are unjustly denied access via:
- the gender pay gap and its impact on credit profiles
- uneven childcare responsibilities that consume time and financial resources
- higher rates of mortgage denials despite superior payment performance

The hurdles are high, and they just keep coming.
This is where Habitat Chicago steps in.
 
I'm joining my Smithgroup colleagues on October 31st to build a home in the Pullman neighborhood of Chicago.

We realize one day of work is such a small endeavor.
But we must show up for each other in any way we can, particularly during challenging times. Our hope is that the future mother/daughter/grandmother/aunt homeowner feels seen, supported and knows that their home ownership dreams MATTER.
